  1. Day of the Dead • Day of the Dead is a holiday that shows Christian faith and honors the dead. • Day of the dead is considered a Mexican ritual, but is traced back to the Aztecs. • Today, Day of the Dead is celebrated mainly in the United States and central America, and takes place on November 1st and 2nd. • It is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd because it is aligned with All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

  2. The Altar • My altar is commemorating a loved member of my family, my aunt, Feri Barati • It will have the necessary elements that represent: • Earth • Wind • Fire • Water

  3. Earth • To honor my families ethnicity we chose Persian crops to represent the Earth.

  4. Wind • To show the wind, we are using paper from books. We are also decorating the altar with a Persian flag.

  5. Fire • The color of the candles of our altar are going to be red, green and white.

  6. Water • We are placing the water into a hand made jar. This will honor both my aunts ethnicity and family.
