Trials and Tribulations Trials come by way of… • Commands (Gen. 12:1ff; 22:1ff; Heb. 11:17) • Consequences (Dan. 6:16ff; Mt. 5:10-12; Acts 11:19; 2 Tim. 1:13; 1 Pet. 4:12-16) • Cruelty (Lk. 13:1; Acts 20:19; Heb. 11:36) • Casualties (Lk. 13:4; Jn. 9:1) • Care / concern (Eph. 3:13; 2 Cor. 4:7-12) • Carnality • Satan (Job 1-2; Rev. 2:9-10) • Temptation (Jas. 1:12-15)

  4. Trials and Tribulations Trials have value… • They manifest God’s love (Heb. 12:6-10) • They develop patience (Jas. 1:3; Rom. 5:3; 12:12) • They test our love for Christ (Rom. 8:35ff) • They test our faith in Christ (1 Cor. 3:13; 1 Pet. 1:6-7)
