  3. Characters

  4. Conflict • The conflict in the outsiders is man vs. society because you have the greasers who are trying to earn respect from the socks and the story says that in Oklahoma there is different types of gangs that are competing against each other.

  5. Summary of Plot • Pony boy and Johnny go to the movies with dally. Johnny kills bob. Johnny and pony boy run away. Johnny saves kids from church. Johnny dies after rumble. and Dally dies.

  6. Theme • Text Evidence 1:pony boy likes Cherri • Text Evidence 2: Johnny kills a social

  7. Point of View • The outsiders is told in first point of view. Since Pony Boy is telling the story. It helps the reader understand the role of each character because pony boy is in the story he can describe his actions, feelings, and his attitude along with the other characters.

  8. Symbolism One symbol in the story is Bobs three rings. They stand for inflicting death. Which later represented three deaths Johnny, Bob, and Dally.

  9. Recommendation • I would recommend you reading the book if you haven't already. The reason I say that is because it helped me understand how things might be going in Oklahoma. Like the gangs and everything. Also it’s a coming of age novel. And you probably can relate to how the people in this book feel. Especially if you grew up with hard times. And I know my mom and dad did so I told them about the outsiders to and they can really connect with it.
