When she graduated, she attended the Art Institute of Chicago (1905-06), followed by the Art Students League in New York (1907). The dessert landscape of New Mexico was the inspiration for most of her work, which is in the abstract form.

  2. More facts…. • Georgia O'Keeffe sold her first Giant Flower painting in 1928,when she was 41 years old. The painting "Calla Lily" sold for $25,000. A year before she died, one of her paintings sold for $1,000,000. • Georgia O'Keeffe was married to a world famous photographer, Alfred Stieglitz.

  4. “Nobody sees a flower, really, it is so small. We haven't time - and to see takes time like to have a friend takes time.” O’Keeffe

  5. . “Filling a space in a beautiful way. That is what art means to me."

  6. If I could paint the flower exactly as I see it no one would see what I see because I would paint it small like the flower is small. So I said to myself - I'll paint what I see - what the flower is to me but I'll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it - I will make even busy New Yorkers take time to see what I see of flowers.

  7. The artistic brilliance of Georgia O'Keeffe revolutionized modern art in both her time and in the present. With her paintings she vividly portrayed the power and emotion of objects of nature.
