  4. It's Pat SNL intro! • Why do we get “hung up” on identification of male or female? • Why is sex identification important? • How do we identify male or female? • What if how we identify male and female has nothing to do with how people think of themselves?

  5. Sex • The biological sex of an individual. Physically a human can be male or female. There are however some medical conditions where both sexes are expressed with physical characteristics such as genitals.

  6. Gender • The emotional, or social expression of sexuality and socialization. A person’s gender may or may not be connected to their physical sex. (A person may be physically male while they identify with female expressions of socialization. A person may be physically female prefer physical sex with other females, identify themselves as female yet express themselves in typically male ways)

  7. Gender Roles • The jobs and functions society places on people as a result of their sex, these roles typically result as a by-product of a societal ideas of what it means to be a male or a female.
