Characterization of hypothetical proteins using protein features NishantBadal, Mac Mikkelsen, and IshworThapa College of Information Science and Technology, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Omaha, NE 68182 Abstract Annotation of genomic sequences with "hypothetical protein" is of common occurrence in the sequence data in public databases. The goal of this project was to extract hypothetical proteins from ten bacterial genomes and characterize them based on the presence or absence of known protein motifs. The result obtained by using computational tools developed by our group will be discussed. Methodology Description of the overall method.
