Gourmet food vs. fast food Weekend trips vs. Staying home ►Remember - A person’s STANDARDS are closely related to their values and goals.

  16. Resources Resources: all the things you have or can use to help you reach your goals. Human resource – resources you have within yourself such as skills, knowledge and experience. Determination Motivation Imagination Nonhuman resource –time and material things you have or can use to achieve goals such as money, tools, clothes and community resources to achieve your goals

  17. Ethics Set of moral principles or personal priorities that guide the person’s conduct. Example: When a person calls in sick to work on a sunny day when they are not; or takes credit for another student’s work. What influences a person’s ethics? School pressure Family demands Work conditions Peer pressure

  18. Myths About Choosing a Career Choosing a career is simple. I can’t make a living from my hobby. Once I choose a career I'll be stuck in it forever. There is one perfect job for me. No one will hire me because I lack experience, No one will hire me because I have low grades, have gaps in my work history, etc.

Explain the difference between aptitudes and abilities and give an example of each. Aptitude – natural talent Ability – performance skill that have been learned.
