What is a food chain?. A food chain can be shown by how each living organism gets their food and also how it is made. All food chains will start with a green plant. (Producers) The green plant is then eaten by the animal. (Consumers) Then the food chains ends with a preditor.

  1. What is a food chain? • A food chain can be shown by how each living organism gets their food and also how it is made.

  2. All food chains will start with a green plant. (Producers) • The green plant is then eaten by the animal.(Consumers) • Then the food chains ends with a preditor. • But the sun is the most important.

  3. For example: • Grass is eaten by a Grasshopper  • Grasshopper is eaten by Toads  • Toads are eaten by Snakes  • Snakes are eaten by Hawks 

  4. What is a food web • A food web consist of several food chains. • The food chains are connected together. • A food web shows how many different plants and animals are connected.

  5. Tropic level • Tropic level is the feeding position which is in a food chain. • This can be:- Primary producers( organism from a plant) - Herbivore( Animals eating plants) - Primary Carnivore( Animals eating animals)

  6. Tropic level definitions • Herbivore  • Carnivore  • Apex predator  - Animals which eats plants. • Animals eat other animals. • Have no predatores.

  7. Trophic level • Level 1: - Primary producers( organism from a plant) • Level 2: - Herbivore  Primary Consumers(Herbivores eat plants) • Level 3: - Secondary Consumers( Carnivore eat Herbivore) • Level 4:- Tertiary Consumers(Carnivores which eat other carnivores)Level 5:- Apex predatores

There are difficulties in classifying animals which belong to the Trophical levels. • Omnivores are animals which feed at different places which is in the food web. • For example:- Grizzly bears eat basically anything. From berries, to fish, to dead animals. • People have difficulties in classifying where the bear belongs in the Trophical level.
