  2. 3. Watch and Learn • Here is the official “how-to” video on making a canvas clock at home. • Photo Transfer Tutorial

  4. What we used • Materials: • Canvas (open back) • Gel Medium • Clock hands/Battery • Paint Brush • Bowl of Water • Printed Photo on regular paper (with laser ink)

  5. Step by step 1. With a paint brush, cover the entire canvas with thick layers of gel medium. 2. Quickly place your printed photo (if it is a picture with words, flip the picture before printing) onto the canvas. 3. Rub the picture to ensure it is sealed and that there is no air bubbles. Wait overnight until the gel has dried (If you are impatient, blow dry all the areas of the canvas). 4. To reveal your photo, dip your fingertips into the bowl of water wetting the photo. Don’t soak your photo or the ink could rub off.

  6. ..continued 5. Next, with your fingertips, rub off the paper in a circular motion. You may  need to rub the same spot multiple times to get through all of the paper. 6. Once all of the paper is completely off, puncture a small hole into the center of the canvas. 7. Push through the clock hands to match up with the battery at the back of the canvas. 8. Push to seal and your canvas clock is complete!

  7. Artist inspired • Robert Rauschenberg was a mix media artist during the periods of Postmodernism, Mixed media, Pop art, Neo-Dada, Abstract expressionism. Rauschenberg had changed the name of collage. His use of  found objects, with his sculpting and painting represented artwork that could be seen as a historical piece or a modern twist on everyday life. His inspiring work of creating an original piece with a variety of mixed materials is something many people can learn from!  • Link: • http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/episodes/robert-rauschenberg/about-the-artist/49/
