  2. Coyote is quite a character! • Coyote is known as a trickster character which means he likes to play tricks on others. Sometimes he he seeks to help others by using his wits. In other stories he is selfish or foolish and his tricky plans come back to haunt him.

  3. What kind of story?(Genre history) • Trickster tales are stories about universal folklore characters, usually animals, who may both deceive others and be fooled themselves. Winning out over sheer physical force through wit and cleverness is often the common theme

  4. Where can we find coyote characters? The “trickster” character can be found in many stories around the world: • Africa- Anansi the spider • American South- Brer Rabbit • Irish Folklore: Leprechauns • Jewish Folklore- Herschel of Osterpol • Norse Myths- Loki • France- Fox Modern versions: • Bugs Bunny • Wiley Coyote • Captain Jack Sparrow

Why we like Coyote. • Danielle says: I like Coyote because he is so funny! • Jesse says: Coyote always comes up with ideas! • George says: I like how the other characters teach Coyote a lesson! • Tonya says: Coyote acts so cool but he really is like a kid in a candy shop- he just can’t resist temptation!
