  1. A Christian perspective of IslamPart 2: Jesus vs. Isa BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES OF LIVING SERIES

  2. Different Jesuses • "I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy.I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to Him.But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches another Jesuswhom we have not preached,or you receive a different spiritfrom the one you received, or a different gospelfrom the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough...“ (II Corinthians 11:2-4)

  3. "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel -- which is no gospel at all. Some people...are trying to pervert the Gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be cursed. (anathema) As we have said before, so now I say again: 'If any one preaches to you a gospel contrary to that which you accepted, let him be accursed/eternally condemned.“ (Galations 1:6-9)

  4. 6. Study of the PERSON and WORK of Jesus Christ • CULT = Jesus plus or minus anything • HERESY = Anything that 'adds to' or 'takes away' from Jesus  • REMEMBER:  "You can be RIGHT at every other point of your theology, but if you are WRONG on Jesus, you wrong enough to lose your soul for time and eternity!" PRINCIPLE: CHRISTOLOGY = Heart of our THEOLOGY

  7. Isa of the Qur’an • The Virgin Birth of Jesus (Sura 3:47; 19:20-21; Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:30-34) • The sinlessnessof Christ (Sura 19:17, 19; Matthew 4:15, 7:28) • That He was the author of creation (Sura 5:113-114; John 1:3-4; Colossians 1:16-17)

  8. Isa of the Qur’an • That Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit (Sura 2:253; Luke 4:1) • That He performed many miracles and signs (Sura 2:87; John 3:2) • That His death was by the will of Allah (Sura 3:55; Philippians 2:8)

  9. Isa of the Qur’an • He was resurrected and ascended (Sura 3:55; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Ephesians 1:19-20) • That He will come again at His second coming (Sura 43:61; Acts 1:10-11) NOTE : Muslims greatly revere Jesus and believe more about Him than many non-Christians of Liberal Christians! But the demons of hell also "...believe and tremble" (Ja. 2:19)

  10. Differences 1. Jesus is the “word of Allah” to Mary. (Sura 3:45) Jesus is the “Word made flesh”. (John 1:14) 2. Jesus is a “spirit from Allah”. (Sura 4:171) 2. Jesus is not a Spirit, but is the One who sent the Holy Spirit. (John 16:7) Jesus is far more than a prophet (Hebrews 1:4) and was greater than Abraham (John 8:58) and Moses (Hebrews 3:3) 3. Jesus is a “prophet of Allah”. (Sura 19:30-31) Jesus was crucified, dead, buried, and resurrected. (Matthew 27:35; Mark 25:24; Luke 23:33; John 19:18; Acts 2:23; 3:13; Galatians 3:13; etc.) 4. Jesus did not “die by crucifixion”. (Sura 4:57)

  11. Conclusions • Their Jesus is NOT our Jesus • Isa & Jesus are not the same • Isa is "another Jesus" that Paul warned about • Biblical Jesus • Second Member of Godhead • Incarnation of Jehovah God • Son of God & God the Son • God-Man of history • Perfect God & Perfect Man

  12. The Deity of Christ “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” John 1:1-4 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

  13. The Deity of Christ “Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” John 1:14 “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.” Hebrews 1:1-4

  14. The Deity of Christ “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very natureGod, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11 “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” Colossians 1:15

  15. The Deity of Christ “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” Colossians 2:9 “Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.” 1 John 2:22-23 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” 1 John 4:1-3

  16. The Deity of Christ “Many deceivers who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world.  Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist." (II John 7) “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:3-6)

  17. The Deity of Christ “‘Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6) “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
