  4. About Me • Teaching for 14 years • 6 in Alief • 8 in Pearland • University of Houston • Interdisciplinary studies • Married with 3 daughters • Kinder, 3rd, & 6th

  5. What To Expect This Year • Please see additional information for a brief description of grade level expectations. • 5th grade students will take STAAR exams in Reading, Math and Science.

  7. Agendas • Written in EVERY Monday morning • Homework & Classwork listed • Important Reminders • Does not have to be signed

  8. Make-up Work Policy • Students are able to make corrections to assignments that score below 70%. • Corrections are due the Monday following Thursday graded papers. There will be a stamped date on top of the paper showing when it must be turned in. • Correction sheet must be attached to their original assignment with a parent signature.

  9. Late Work Policy If a student doesn’t turn in homework on time, it is considered late. This is an automatic 11 point deduction. If the paper is two days late, it is a 20 point deduction.

  10. Graded Work • All graded work will be returned in their homework folder on Thursday. • Homework = 10% of grade • Classwork = 50% of grade • Major tests and projects = 40% of grade

Math • Given homework every night • Always write in agenda on Monday what the homework will be for the week • I post homework on my webpage • PW-means math practice workbook • CW-means classwork • HW-means homework • The Math ISN should come home everyday The Math ISN works as a math book with notes that we have taken in class. This will help the students with their homework.

Science • Highlights • Write in agenda every Monday the concepts/assignments for the week • Vocabulary Initiative (binder) • Given on Mondays • Due on Fridays • Vocabulary Quiz on Fridays • S.C.O.P.E.S. Warm-ups (green folder) • Journal (ISN) reflects daily activities, investigations, or experiments in class • Students have access to their journals for every class assessment (does not include district & state assessments) • Things to come: • Projects • BYOD • Details soon • Class Pets: • Rafiki, mac snow leopard gecko • Tiger, yellow-throated plated lizard

Conduct Cards Work Habits: A - Not completing class work B - Not completing homework C - Not bringing supplies to class D - Not using class time wisely/Not paying attention E - Leaving items on desk/Messy F - No agenda//No signature Conduct: 1 - Disruptive talking/Behavior 2 - Not following directions 3 - Poor restroom behavior 4 - Poor hallway behavior 5 - Out of seat without permission 6 – Disturbing or Unacceptable touching of others 7 - Disrespectful/ Talking back 8 – Unacceptable Language 9 – Miscellaneous + Comment ****Consequences accumulate and are assigned daily****
