  1. Today and tomorrow you’re at the cinema… So we don’t run out of time, we need to make sure we know the plot and events of Macbeth and Frankenstein so we can look at writing about them. This involves a lot of DVD watching, so please make sure you are comfortable and can concentrate. You won’t get another chance!

  2. Last time • Macbeth visits the wishes to hear his future and is told: • Beware Macduff • He will not be harmed until Birnham Wood moves • He cannot be harmed by anyone “born of woman” When he asks if Banquo’s sons will be kings, he is shown a line of kings, all seemingly Banquo’sdescendents… Cha 19 6 mins

  3. Moving On Macbeth orders the killing of Macduff’s wife and children, showing that he is now a tyrant, killing anyone he sees as being in his way

  4. Moving On • Macduff is told of the murder of his family • Lady Macbeth, out of nowhere, appears to be going mad, sleepwalking (naked in our film for some reason…!) and muttering to herself, unable to remove a spot of blood from her hand…she is later pronounced dead • Macduff’s approaching army decide to cover themselves with the branches of Birnham Wood for camouflage as they near Macbeth’s castle Cha22 7min Cha24 – 15mins

  5. Now – Frankenstein! We will be comparing Macbeth with Frankenstein on 26th November. This gives us today and tomorrow to watch this faithful film version – some of you have seem a lot of it. Then, two weeks to choose extracts and prepare for the Controlled Assessment.
