  1. HOW TO WiNTERiZE YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR As the boating season draws close, the months become increasingly frigid. To avoid damaging your outboard motor, you need to ensure that it's well-protected. If you want to keep your outboard motor running for longer, you'll need to know what to do when winter comes. WiTH THE FOLLOWiNG TASKS, WE'LL ENSURE THAT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO WiNTERiZE YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR WiTHOUT FRETTiNG: DRAINING THE CRANKSHAFT OIL (FOR FOUR-STROKE MOTORS) Development of "dirty" oils that can corrode and limit the life of engine parts during winter storage. INSTALLING A NEW OIL FILTER (FOR FOUR-STROKE MOTORS) Remove the oil filter after discharging MAKE SURE TO FILL THE CRANKSHAFT WITH FRESH OIL (FOUR-STROKE MOTORS) Fill the crankshaft with new oil after installing the new oil filter. MAKE SURE TO CHANGE THE LOWER UNIT GEAR OIL Keep an eye on the color and clarity of the oil as it drains. A good-quality gear grease should be translucent with a green cast. FUEL STABILIZATION Stabilizing the fuel will aid in the prevention of gum and varnish buildup, which can occur during storage. USING ANTIFREEZE TO FLUSH THE OUTBOARD CYLINDER FOGGING Use a non-toxic propylene glycol antifreeze when filing the tank of the winterizing kit. APPLYING GREASE TO THE TILT TUBE AND THE PIVOT TUBE TAKING THE NECESSARY STEPS TO PROTECT YOUR OUTBOARD FROM CORROSION
