  4. General Beliefs Trinity Emphasis on the resurrection of Christ Judgment day: God will bring the world to an end in His own way. Voluntarism: Authority rests with the baptized believer Second with the local congregation of believers.   5. Evangelism: Evangelism and missionary work very important Pietism: Emphasizes a person’s direct encounter with God Sectarianism: Reject efforts that try to mediate theological differences between denominations, even in terms of other Baptists.

  6. View of human person: Humans created good, but have fallen into a state of sinful corruption.   8. Devotional prayer Advised daily quiet time or devotional time with God to pray and/or read the scriptures. Used to gain more knowledge and grow in individual faith. No connection between communal worship and personal devotion (i.e. no sacraments) Devotion to God is unique to each person No need for any type of clerical overseer

  9. Personal Salvation Salvation is personal decision to receive Christ. Involves personal devotion and Personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal savior. In order to become saved or become a Christian in the Baptist church along with Baptism involves: 1) Realizing that sin is humanity’s greatest problem 2) Realize that God loves you and has provided eternal life for you through his Son Jesus Christ 3) Respond to Jesus through personal prayer. 4) Repent and turn away from sin through prayer and Receive Jesus as your Lord and Christ.
