  3. Supplies you will need: • Spiral Notebook • Pens/pencil (only blue/black ink) • Index cards

  4. Expected Behavior • Be on time and prepared • Second tardy: call home • Participate • Respect everyone: your classmates, teacher, and yourself • Follow all school rules: dress code, food/drinks, cell phones, etc.

  5. Reading • There is a LOT of reading associated with this class. You will have to take the FCAT Reading exam in the Spring, and we’re going to make sure you’re ready. • There will be time provided in class for students to read. Reading outside the class is required. • Students are required to bring something appropriate to read EVERY DAY. It’s part of your grade. • I have a vast selection of many genres.

  7. Grade Computation • THIS CLASS HAS AN END-OF-COURSE EXAM! • Assignments are due on the date given. Points will be deducted for late work (letter grade per day; not accepted beyond three days late). • Unexcused absences result in “0” (zero) on all missed assignments, per CCSB policy. • It is the responsibility of the student-NOT the teacher- to make-up any missed tests/assignments within three days.

  8. Grade Computation (continued) • “Extra credit” is only available to students showing effort. Students who fail to do assignments consistently through laziness deserve no extra credit; do the assignments to begin with! • Each semester will require a research project, spanning both 9 weeks. Details to follow.

  11. Supplies you will need: • 1”- 1 ½” Notebook • Pens/pencil (only blue/black) • Highlighter • Index cards (AP: 500+ !!!!! Plus MY 100 words AND 100 word parts) • A student atlas would be helpful, but isn’t mandatory

  17. APHG Expectations • This course is designed to be difficult. Are you up to the challenge? It’s a college course! • You may or may not make an “A” or even a “B” (The point of the course is to PREPARE you for success on the AP Exam!) • Not all students will earn the right to take the AP Exam in May • Reading intensive, Vocabulary intensive • Research intensive, Writing intensive

  18. About this course • This is a college-level course. It is tough! Reading is at a collegiate level, and there is an enormous amount of vocabulary (500 + terms) • Homework nightly, tests weekly, quiz every other day • More information about assignments forthcoming • Not all students will take the AP Exam; but all will prepare for it. Those not taking it will take the Geography EOC • Students who normally make As might struggle to make a B. Those who are accustomed to C’s might not be successful.
