See you next year! • Ideas to work on for Christmas break: • Skip count by 2 and 5 to 100 • Write to 120 • Work on addition and subtraction math facts • READ!!! Your child has 10 books from guided reading this week that were Christmas books that would be great to read. • Practice 1st grade sight words • We want this kids to come back in January ready to move on to new skills and not have to go backwards to review and relearn things, so PLEASE work on these things over break! My back up supply of snacks is gone. Please be sure to send snack on your child’s snack day otherwise we will have no snack for that day. If you would like to send extra snack to replenish the back up supply that would be great. On Friday, students had their 2nd quarter PBIS party where they got to make me and 5 other staff members into an ice cream sundae. It sure was messy, but they got a lot of good laughs! Six Flags Reading Students can earn a free ticket to Six Flags for reading. There is a letter and log to keep track of minutes in Friday Folders today. Students must record 360 minutes and return the reading log to earn their ticket at the end of the year. Social Studies We discussed the first Americans this week where we learned about Native Americans. Science We made snow ice cream on Monday where we discussed solids and liquids along with freezing and melting. It was a yummy way to learn! We also started motion this week and made marshmallow shooters to see how things move from one place to another at different speeds. When we return in January, please send a new box of crayons with your child as many of them have used, lost, or broke crayons and have very few for the second half of the year. Thank you!
