  1. Why does the doctor ask you to get a CT scan? CT scan or a CAT or computerized tomography scan makes use of computers and X-ray machines that are rotating. This helps to create a cross sectional image of your body. The images let the doctor get a more detailed view as compared to a normal x-ray procedure. CT scan shows the blood vessels, soft tissues and the bones in various body parts.
