Definitions • Tenement: an overcrowded, poorly built apartment building • Immigrant: a person who moved permanently from one country to another • Enclave: an area or neighborhood where most residents are of one nationality, race, or religion • Muckraker: one who exposes corruption or scandal in public life • Culture: the beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior of a particular nation or people
