  2. Purpose of the CAPI Menu System • Prepares the tablet with provided information about interviewer, supervisor, and the cluster in which interviewer is working that day • Automates launch of data collection application • Enforces file naming convention

Starting The Interviewer's Menu • On tablet selecting the Start menu in the top left hand corner to display the programs in the Startmenu • The order and list of the programs in the Start menu will vary depending on the tablet model • Scrolling down the Start menu and selecting MICSCapi • On the PC computer selecting CapiMenu.pff

Starting The Interviewer's Menu • Before starting interviewing the tablet needs certain information including interviewer’s code and code of the cluster in which he/she is working. • Complete this information at the start of the day, before arriving at the household to avoid causing a delay in starting the questionnaire.

Starting The Interviewer's Menu • First, interviewer will be asked to select supervisor to identify your interviewing team • Next, interviewer will be asked to select his/her own name and identify as the interviewer • And finally, to enter the Cluster (Primary Sampling Unit) number • Once this is completed, the Main Interviewer’s Menu will appear

Description of the Main Interviewer’s Menu • The first three options of the Main Interviewer’s Menu are all related to interviewing a household and reviewing the data for that household, and all lead to the same submenus. • Select 02 to start a new Household Questionnaire in a household not previously visited. • Select 03 when returning to a Household Questionnaire that is not yet finished (i.e. is still incomplete or has only been partially saved). • Select 04 when reviewing and/or modify a completed Household Questionnaire.

  8. Description of the Main Interviewer’s Menu • After select option 2, 3 or 4, a list of all the households assigned to the interviewer will appear.

Description of the Main Interviewer’s Menu • The program will confirm that this is the household in which you wish to work • Purpose: • add questionnaires to a cluster’s data file for that interviewer • Actions • adds cases to file DATA\HCCCNNN.DAT where CCC is cluster number NNN is interviewer number

  10. Starting the Individual Questionnaire • There are two ways to start an Individual interview. • One is after completing the Household Questionnaire • The other, is to start an Individual Questionnaire from the Main Interviewer’s Menu

  12. Starting the Individual Questionnaire • Option 1 to start a new interview with the individual • Option 2 to revisit the individual • Option 3 to review or modify the data for this individual

  13. Description of the Main Interviewer’s Menu • Option 01: • Change the Cluster (Primary Sampling Unit) number. • Option 11: • Select option 11 to be taken to the Utilities Menu below. • Option 12: • Exit the MICS Interviewer’s Menu system and return to Windows.

Utilities Menu • Transfer data for all questionnaire for one cluster from the interviewer to the supervisor • Share household data for one Cluster with other interviewers – this option is used when a different interviewer conducts the individual interview from the person conducting the household interview • Receive household data from other interviewers – this option is used by the person receiving the household data before conducting an individual interview

Utilities Menu • Modify IDs/delete individuals – this option can be used to correct problems with IDs in data files, for example, when • Data was entered in the wrong cluster number. • The wrong household number was used. • The wrong individual’s line number was used when collecting the individual interview • The wrong interviewer code was used when entering the system • Receive system updates from the supervisor • Receive household assignment from the supervisor 9.
