  15. How can high blood pressure cause a stroke over time? Damage to blood vessels Macrophages come to “help” Macrophages get sick on LDLs and get stuck in blood vessel walls (plaque) The plaque gets large After many months or years, the plaque can come loose and block blood vessels (stroke)
