  3. NEPTUNE’S MYTH • Classical myths try to give an interpretation to events that were inexplicable to man. • Los mitos clásicos tratan de dar una interpretación para acontecimientos que eran inexplicables para el hombre.

  4. This myth explains the destructive or benefactor power of the sea waters. • Este mito explica el poder destructor o benefactor de las aguas del mar.

  5. Neptune is known as Poseidon in Greek mythology. • Neptuno es conocido como Poseidón en la mitología griega.

  6. In this case, Poseidon myth explains the origin of ocean phenomena such as tsunamis. • En este caso, el mito de Poseidón explica el origen de fenómenos marítimos como los tsunamis.

  7. God’s atributes: • The trident. • The horses. • Atributos del dios: • El tridente. • Los caballos.

  8. With his powerful trident, he shakes the waves causing terrible earthquakes and tsunamis. • Con su poderoso tridente agita las olas provocando terribles seísmos y tsunamis.

  9. But it can also have a benefactor power sprouting fountains and springs. • Pero también puede ejercer un poder benefactor haciendo brotar fuentes y manantiales.
