  1. Natural Gas and Fracking Aubrey Pacheco Rebecca Villalpando Danielle Miller

  2.   How does this energy work? • Fracking: natural gas well drilling. • After drilling, millions of gallons of water, sand and chemicals are injected in under high pressure. • This pressure fractures the shale, opening fissures that enable natural gas to be released

  3. What is this energy best suited to do? • Natural gas used commercially, residentially, industrially, and in transportation • Space and water heating systems • Used for waste treatment, incineration, metals preheating, drying and dehumidification, glass melting, food processing, fueling industrial boilers, and infrared heating systems

  4. How realistic is this energy currently? • Natural Gas and Fracking is very realistic as it’s use is employed all over the US and other countries • Nearly 500,000 natural gas wells in US • Natural gas makes up roughly 25% of energy consumed in US

  5. How likely is it that we will be using this energy in the near future? • Fracking is already utilitzed currently • It produces about 300,000 barrels of natural gas a day • It seen as one of the key ways of extracting natural gas

  6. Advantages: Extracts natural gas efficiently Reduces our dependence on coal Creates invest opportunities Provides low, stable energy prices for consumers and industry Disadvantages: Harmful and toxic chemicals are used in the fracking fluid Contaminates water and air Needs large water and diesel supply per fracture What are the advantages and disadvantages of this form of energy?
