  8. homophone homophone- a word with the same pronunciation as another but with a different meaning and spelling. Blue and blew are homophones. The sky is blue. The wind blew the trees over.

  9. homograph homograph -a word with the same spelling, but has a different meaning. He has a bow and arrow. He took a bow.

  10. antonym antonym- a word that has the opposite meaning (in and out) He is going in the door. He is going out the door.

  11. synonym synonym – a word with the same or almost the same meaning. The rock is large. The rock is big.

  12. idiom idiom - a phrase whose meaning cannot be understood from the ordinary meanings of the separate words in it. I believe you are “pulling my leg.” The idiom “pulling my leg" means to “trick or tease.” People who do not speak English well have a hard time understanding idioms.
