  5. Vision To develop 900 enterprises in Pathanamthitta district during 2017-18 generating employment to 3800 persons directly and 3000 indirectly on investing 150 Crores.

  6. Strengths of the District Pathanamthittais having a good network of banks. There are more than 271 branches of nationalised banks and 148 branches of Co-operative banks. Kerala State Co-operative bank and Kerala Financial Corporation have one branch each in the district. Pathanamthitta is having good resources in raw materials such as rubber, spices and coconut etc. A good number of experienced Ex- NRIs are residing in Pathanamthitta, can be persuaded and attracted to the field of industry.

  7. Continued.. 4. The foreign money deposit is higher than other districts. 5. CD ratio is 42.35. The deposit is nearing to 14700 crores. 6. Industries department developed a D.P. of an extent of 20 acres at KunnamthanamPanchayatMallappally block and is allotted to 74 prospective entrepreneurs including NRIs. 64units have started commercial production and another 32 units are waiting for power supply.

Continued… 7.KIFRA, Ministry of Food Processing are promoting Industrial parks, Food parks, Food Craft Institute and hence Pathanamthitta will have a dominant place in the fields of Food Industry. Units are being set up in KINFRA Park, Kunnamthanam & Adoor. 8. Quality power is available in all most all parts of the district. All the above aspects show a bright future for industrial development of the district.

  9. Weaknesses of the district The economy of Pathanamthitta district is basically agrarian. The entrepreneurship quality is low. The land value is high. Reserve Forest is nearly 50 % of the geographical area. Role models for entrepreneurs are less. No industrial research institutions at present.

Infrastructure Available The District Industries Centre has set up a District Level Single Window Clearance Board for speedy issue of various licenses, clearances required for getting up SSI units with capital investment of more than Rs. 2 lakhs. The Board is chaired by the District Collector and functioning effectively. A Green Channel Counter is also functioning at District Industries Centre for dealing the matters of SSI units with capital investment less than Rs. 2 lakhs.

Continued… District Industries Centre has acquired 24.98 hectare of land at Kunnamthanam of which 14.18 hectare has been allotted to KINFRA for setting up an industrial Park and 2.04 hectare has been allotted to SIDCO There are 3 Mini Industrial Estate at Adoor, Pandalam and Mallappally. The units in the MIEs are engaged in the manufacture of Primes, Paint, Coconut oil, cattle feed, rubber moulded items etc.

  14. Continued… The Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) has a raw material Depot at Thiruvalla for procurement and distribution of Industrial raw material. The District has a road net work of 1456 Kms comprising State High ways, major district roads, other district roads and rural roads. The availability of power for industrial purpose is reported to be adequate under priority and the pending level of industrial connection is reported to be NIL

  15. Actions suggested for Promoting 900 Enterprises during 2017-18 In order to identify the potential entrepreneurs and to sort out problems in bank credit, it is proposed to conduct general industrial seminars including Investors Meets during the July - December 2017 as detailed below.
