A.J Hackett By Tait
Childhood • A.J Hackett was born in 1958. He was born and raised in Auckland's North Shore He went to Westlake Boys High School, but he left at the age of 16 to become a carpenter. At this age he had taken up snowboarding and skiing. In 1986 he attempted his first amateur bungy jump of the Auckland bridge. He then met a friend named Henry Van Asch.
The Bungy Hackett was inspired by the Vanuatu ritual called land diving and the oxford club of dangerous sports. Then later in 1987 A.J and Henry planned a jump of the Eifel tower. They did that but it was illegal. Hackett then got arrested by the French police but Hackett considered it as favour for inspiration. Then he started jumping all over the world.
