Our Vision is… • To foster 21st century learning in our classrooms. • Every student and every teacher will be innovative and confident in their technology skills. • Classrooms will be well equipped to educate technology without bounds. • Teachers will be experts in the use of technology in education.
Current Status • Ceiling mounted projectors in every room • SMART Boards mounted in 5 high school classrooms • Mimio boards installed in every middle school classroom • Routine technology professional development for teachers • Internet access and district WAN updated to fiber optics • Computer work centers have been added to K-5 classrooms

Curriculum and Learning Goals The Wilson Area School District will… • Develop a K-12 Technology Curriculum. • Ensure that all students are trained in safe and lawful Internet practices. • Ensure ongoing professional development for all staff in the use of current and future technologies.
Develop a K-12 Technology Curriculum • Form a technology curriculum commitee that will develop a K-12 technology curriculum. • Each department of the high school and middle school will implement new technology standards into their curriculum. • Students in the high school and middle school will be required to take one technology elective.
Students trained in safe and lawful Internet practices • The high school Business department will offer a class that addresses safe and lawful Internetpractices. • The middle school will offer an elective that addresses safe and lawful Internet practices. • The Wilson Area School District will communicate with parents of all students about safe and lawful Internet practices.
Professional development for staff in technology. • Form a technology professional development committee that will develop a professional development plan. • The technology department will report to the committee any new technologies that may be of interest. • Teachers will complete surveys to report their interest in which technologies they would like to betrained in.
Administration and Management Goals The Wilson Area School District… • Administration will model the use of technology resources. • Will facilitate technological partnerships with the educational community, businesses and other organizations. • Will ensure that all students in the district have equal access to appropriatetechnology to support academic achievement.
Administration will model the use of technology resources. • Administrators will use email to communicate information currently sent in paper format. • Administrators will attend training or professional development for current technologies in education. • The Wilson Area School District will provide professional recognition for teaching, learning, research and administrative technology initiatives.
Facilitate technological partnerships. • The Wilson Area School District will develop appropriate partnerships with commercial vendors • The Wilson Area School District will maximize collaborative external grant efforts. • The Wilson Area School District will share equipment and expertise with technology partners.
Ensuring students have equal access to technology. • All students will have the option to check out a laptop for use during the school year. • All students in the middle school and high school will have the option to check out a graphing calculator during the school year. • Teachers will incorporate student use of technology in their lessons and keep a record.
Communication and Information Access Goals The Wilson Area School District will… • Enhance and upgrade the district's communications methods. • Increase teacher and parent communications. • Improve student achievement data collection, analysis, reporting, and decision making.
Enhance and upgrade district communication methods • Wilson Area School District will update the district's website. • Each building will post daily announcements via newsletter or broadcast on the building's website forparent viewing. • The technology department will evaluate the functionality of existing communicationsystems and upgrade/replace as needed.
Increase teacher and parent communications. • All teachers will create a website using the same program (Teacher Web) that is accessible through the district website. • Teachers will be provided with current parent contact information throughout the year viaGroupWise. • Teachers will be required to keep a log of parent contact throughout the year.
Improve student data collection. • The Wilson Area School District will implement a new progarm for data collection, analysis, reporting, and decision making. • Teachers will be trained in the process of data investigation using Performance Plus. • The Wilson Area School District will form a committee including administrators, teachers andparents to decide on the best goals and uses on data investigation.
Plan Monitoring • Monitored annually by the technology Department • Teacher portfolios • District website to showcase the use of technology • Technology department head will provide evidence of plan implementation.
Plan Review • Surveys for teachers, parents, students, and administrators • Yearly meetings with the technology plan committee. • Monthly meetings with the administration and technology staff.
