  2. Somehistory! Our school is the oldest school in Tarnobrzeg. It all began in 1863, when the Countess Gabriela Tarnowska -founded an elementary school, in which learning tookplace only in winter. The school wassituated in a Countbuilding. The first employed teacher was Mrs Pawłowska, who taught children reading, writing and crafts. A year later the school moved to a rented house inBreweryStreet. The teacherswhotaughttherewereMr. Krasiński, Mr. Farbi and Mr.Szewczyk. Later, intheplace weretheburntmanor-houseused to be, in a brandnewbuilding, apublic school was created. In 1893 Mr. Gorylewicz organized a 5-class school mixed with separate divisions for girls and boys, and in 1912 theycreated a folk school.

  3. After 8 years,a mixed school was divided into maleand femalebranch, and the period of study was extendedto 6 years. The head of the male school, located in a newly constructed, brick building, was Mr Joseph Łapatański. The female school, located in a wooden building on the other side of the church, was led by HelenaWeissowa . In 1922, folk schools (female and male) weretransformed into 7-class elementary schools. They existed until the outbreak of theWorld War II (1939).

  4. During the war, students wereacquiring knowledge in the former femaleschool building, in secret. In 1944, after years of Nazi occupation, the activity of schools was resumed. In 1950 the school was converted into EducationalSchool. It had the name of Count Jan Tarnowski. MrRudolph Junikiewiczbecametheheadmaster of thisschool. In the fifties, the school management was often changed. Only in 1959, the principalof School No. 1was MrVladislav Furman, who held this position for 16 years. He also modernised and overhauledtheschool’s building.

  5. W 1975 Zofia Schabowskawas app0intedtheheadmistressof the school . In 1977, the Board of Education in Tarnobrzeg merged Primary School No. 1 with Primary School No. 2 withthe name of Primary School No. 1 in Tarnobrzeg. In 1982, special classes were createdinthe school . In 1987, the new principal of theschool was Helena Serafin. In 1994 there was 130thanniversary of the existence of the school, andthenit was giventhe name of Stanislaw Jachowicz.

  6. In 1995 our school was 5th withinthe top 100 schools in Poland. On September 1st.1999 as a result of the reform of education, School No. 1 was turnedinto 6-classelementary school and 3-year Junior High. Mrs GrażynaWianeckabecametheheadmistressof the School. In June 2002 the first graduates left the 3-year Junior High. The history of our school is rich and interesting. For over 140 years of itsexistence a lot haschanged:principals, teachers, students,thename of theschool,buildings.In each passing year, the school hasbeen developingand improvingtoeducatesmarter students, who often come back to the school walls as a parent, teacher, director ...
