If a rental car is necessary, NFSMI will let consultants know in advance, and consultants will be responsible for reserving the rental car. (More details about travel are provided by the NFSMI Business Office.)

  30. NFSMI Training Team Responsibilities • Every approved training is assigned a Project Coordinator from the NFSMI training team. This person is the consultant’s NFSMI contact for all details related to the training assignment. (If you have questions, please contact your Project Coordinator – not the NFSMI Business Office.) • NFSMI provides all instructor and participant training materials and supplies, which vary depending on the training topic. Materials and supplies will be shipped to the training site. Important Note: In most cases, the purchase of additional supplies by a consultant will not be reimbursed. There are a few exceptions, but you should always discuss potential purchases with your Project Coordinator.

  31. Sponsoring Agency (Host Site) Responsibilities • Communicate about training logistics with NFSMI Project Coordinator. • Provide required number of participants for the training. • Communicate information to trainer before the training (such as directions to training site and meeting time with site contact). • Oversee set-up of the training room before the trainer arrives, including table/chair arrangement, AV equipment, and boxes of training materials shipped from NFSMI. • Designate a staff member to act as facilitator for the training with the following responsibilities: • Arrive early at the training site to meet trainer. • Assist with finalizing room set-up and arrangement of materials. • Welcome participants and introduce trainer to group. • Provide information about breaks and lunch, if applicable. • Be present for training. • Be responsible for participant evaluations

  32. How to Submit Participant Evaluations • Find packet of evaluations marked with site contact’s name. • Distribute blank evaluations to participants. • Collect completed evaluations from participants at appropriate time. • Place completed evaluations in pre-addressed envelope. • Mail envelope of completed evaluations to NFSMI. Note:Trainers will receive a full summary of the evaluations via e-mail from the Training Coordinator less than a month after the training date.

  33. Consultant Trainer Responsibilities • Cell Phone and Voice Mail • Consultants must have a cell phone and operational voice mail. • Consultants should be attentive to voice mail messages related to training logistics, especially during travel time. • Laptop Computer • It is suggested that consultants have a laptop computer. Occasionally, it is necessary for a consultant to provide a laptop for the training.

  34. Consultant Trainer Responsibilities • In advance of the training: • Consultants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. • Consultants need to speak directly to the contact at the sponsoring agency listed on the Letter of Agreement for: • Exact directions to the site of the training. • Time that consultant and agency contact will be able to get into the training facility to prepare for the presentation.

  35. Consultants should make sure the agency contact has this envelope. • If training supplies have been shipped to the training site that must be returned to NFSMI, it is the consultant’s responsibility to make sure the box is shipped back to NFSMI. A pre-paid FedEx Ground shipping label is included in the box. • Consultants should refrain from handing out personal business cards or soliciting future trainings from participants. All requests for future training should come through NFSMI.

  36. Important Note Training materials developed by the National Food Service Management Institute may not be sold for profit nor may they be used in any training scenario that results in a profit for any private business.

  37. Pre/Post Assessment Process for Trainers NFSMI wants to determine the effectiveness of our face-to-face trainings. As a method of providing concrete evidence of effectiveness, NFSMI plans to officially administer the pre and post assessments during some of our trainings. • Pre-Assessments • Trainings will be randomly selected for the official pre and post assessment. If a training has been selected, trainers will be notified by their respective training coordinator. • Trainers will need to administer the pre assessment (pink sheets) prior to the start of their training. Allow about 5 minutes for the pre assessment. • Participants must identify a number, name, or symbol that they will be able to recall. The number, name, or symbol will need to be used for the post assessment as well. • Trainers need to strongly discourage participants from using personal information such as social security numbers, etc. • Trainers will be responsible for collecting the pre assessments after administering them.

  38. Pre/Post Assessment Process for Trainers • Post-Assessments • Upon completion of the training, the trainers will need to administer the post assessment (blue sheets). Allow about 5 minutes for the post assessment. • Again, trainers must have participants use the same number, name, or symbol they used for the pre assessment. • In order to assess if there was any type of knowledge gained by the participant, NFSMI must be able to match up the pre assessment with the participant’s post assessment. • Trainers will be responsible for collecting the post assessments after administering them. • Trainers will need to send all pre and post assessments back to NFSMI when they submit their trainer’s report. • NFSMI will match up the participants’ pre and post assessments and then score each assessment. The data will be entered into a statistical software program to determine if there is a statistically significant difference in the average pre assessment and the average post assessment scores.
