  6. Manual Entries • A comma at the end of the author name will allow a Company or institution name like The Department of Education to remain as is instead of being configured as Education, T. D of, • The ‘preferences’ option under edit allows all kinds of adaptations to explore, but particularly useful is the ‘change case’ list which allows a name to remain as ‘McCall’ instead of Maccall

  7. Import a Text File • Save database search as a text file • Open endnote library>File>Import • Choose text file • Select import filter – specified by database provide • Import • I rarely get this to work

  8. Connecting to COPAC • Tools > Connect > Connect… • Scroll to COPAC • Click Connect • Search for required reference • Select and click Copy 1 Reference To, then choose appropriate library • This is an excellent and fast way of getting a comprehensive list of resources • Remember to delete duplicates

  10. Configuring Word with Endnote • Contact Student Services • Refer to Adept Science web site – it offers excellent and easy to follow advise. This is particularly if you have a older version of endnote and wish to use it on a Vista laptop. The toolbar then appears as an ‘addin’ • The website is www.adeptscience.co.uk

  11. “Cite while you write” • When you wish to cite a source: • Open existing EndNote Library • Position cursor and click on EndNote icon • Select appropriate reference • In Tools, go to CWYW and click ‘Insert Selected Citation’ • In text references can be clicked and dragged into endnotes or footnotes • Bibliography is automatically updated • Editing output styles is only possible if you have your own version. • Best money I ever spent
