  1. How do I pass this subject?Just going to New York is not enough!

  2. A Journal is how you will be assessed for the subject. During the trip you will be taking notes, making sketches or diagrams, writing down ideas, collecting interesting stuff.   3. What is Ephemera?The word ephemera means any written or printed matter that is not meant to be retained or preserved. Examples of ephemera worth collecting are … advertisements pamphlets gallery exhibition cards tickets newspaper cutings bookmarks airsickness bags catalogues packaging and labels cigarette packets letters and postcards

  4. DAILY WORKSHEETS Each day you will have Worksheets to complete in your Journal. They are to help you to understand the places we are visiting. They require you to write and draw your responses to particular exhibitions and artworks. The Worksheets are contained in the Booklet you will be given and must bring on each days excursion.

  6. What do I need to bring? For the New York trip you will need to bring …• An artists journal in A5 or A4 size• a black pen• a HB or 2B pencil• an eraser• glue stick• plastic pencil sharpener

  7. THE JOURNAL• A5 or A4• blank pages, not ruled• hardbound or softbound, but hardbound is easier to use• preferably not metal spiral bound• cost from $10 - $30 Available from art suppliers eg Deans, Eckersleys Deans city art store is in Lonsdale St, just up from Elizabeth St

  8. Journals (or notebooks or sketchbooks) come in different colours, sizes and formats: A5 portrait, A5 landscape, A4, panorama etc

  9. Moleskin are good quality but not cheap.
