He’s a carrier, and no control of his hormones. • Three Descriptive Adjectives: Brave, weird, and supercilious. • “ Id like to think that in its final moments the ant is happy, or at least relieved, when a cow’s mouth comes chopping . . . ” ( Scott Westerfeld, 41 ).

  3. Who is a supporting character? • Name: Morgan Ryder • Age: 21 • Talents, Skills, Important Traits: Superhuman Hearing and Strength. • Three Descriptive Adjectives: Gothic, Sneaky, Kind. “Yeah. Tall, dark hair, pale skin. Black dresses. Kind of gothy?” Pause. “ a woman?” (Scott Westerfeld, 41).

  4. What is the story about? • Setting (Time, Place, Environment, Etc.): Modern time, Hoboken, New York. • Main Conflict: New York has a bit of a problem with “parasites”. The city is infested with vampyres, who are actually infected human beings that get stopped by other infected humans called “carriers”. Keep in mind all this happens secretly, so the world really doesn’t know.

  5. What is one of the major themes? • Definition of Theme: Guilty. • “ I’d always thought that once I found her, things would uncrumble a little. Life would never be completely normal again, but at least certain debts had been settled. With her in recovery, my chain of infection had been broken. ” (Scott Westerfeld, 24 ). • “But I still felt crappy” (Scott Westerfeld, 24).

  6. What is one important scene? • The Most Dangerous Scene: In This scene Cal has to face his Ex-girlfriend, who he infected, and tries his best to knock her out, and stall her from leaving. Giving the organization he works for, enough time to come and lock her up. Possibly kill her . . .

  7. Visual Image from an important scene • “She wore a leather jacket over a short plaid dress that left her knees bare to the cold. Her hair laid across her forehead in a jet black fringe that had grown all out to long, ending just about her dark brown eyes. It took me a moment to realize that in the days before I lusted after all women all the time, this girl would have been my type. ” (Scott Westerfeld, 49). • In this scene, due to his forgotten past, Lace is able to unlock the door that blocks his memories. Meeting her gives him more of an opportunity to find Morgan. Since she lives in the same apartment complex as Morgan.

  8. What connections can you make to this book? • Compare to another book or to a current media/local/world situation:Book: Vampire Academy • Explain: They both are connected because both of them are full of action and pretty modern time. Also, the romances in these 2 books are really weird.

  9. Why should you read this book? • If your looking for modern time, paranormal stories to read; this is totally the book you want to read. • The book leaves you very anticipated and kinetic. Some of the moments are pretty vehement, and tends to link with you. <3 • There aren’t any reasons for you to not read this book.(: LMAO.xDNo really, even people who aren’t even into vampires, will love this book.
