  5. Extra curriculum activitiesSports activities Our students are great and successful at sports. The school’s basketball team takes part in and organizes competitions among the students of other schools.

  6. We also have renovated sports hall which is modern and very beautiful.

  7. Extra curriculum activitiesPop music group • Pop group “VIVO” was formed in 1998 in Dauniškis gymnasium.Teacher – Asta Skeirienė. • The collective consists of 17 members. Theyhave participated in manyfestivals in Lithuania and abroad, they were also awarded and nominated in many international contests.

  8. Extra curriculum activitiesFolk music group • Folk group “UNTYTĖ” was founded in 1996. • The leader of this folk group is Laimutis Kirilauskas. • “UNTYTE” has attended many international contests and festivals in Lithuania and abroad.

  9. Students’ Council • Students’ Council is a social and non-commercial youth organisation, which unites the students of Dauniskis gymnasium. • Students’ Council consists  of 16 members. We have school president and 3 committees: children rights, sports and the press. • Every year we have election campaign, where all volunteers can take part for the post of the pupils’ president. • During the election all the students and teachers vote and elect the president and 16 members of students’ Council

Students’ Council • Represents Dauniskis gymnasium and its community in social movements; • Organizes school events and celebrations. • Organizes meetings and solves schoolchildren’s problems; meets their needs and proposals. • Takes part in many projects and programmes; • Cooperates with school director, school’sand teachers’ councils; • Organizes the press conferences.

  12. Traditions andevents 1. Events marking national holidays: January 13th February 16th March 11th 2. A study of political parties 3. Anniversary of achieving Gymnasium status 4. An hour of poetry and hymns to mark Advent 5. Christmas celebrations 6. Sports day for district schools 7. European Day. Events connected with the international projects. 8. Celebration to honor the best gymnasium students.

  13. Project activities at school • Projects have been implemented at the Dauniškis Secondary School since 1994. Project activities began from an international cooperative project with the Gimle School of Economics, located in Kristiansand, Norway.From 2001 to 2004, our school carried out the first international Socrates/Comenius 1.1 school project, ‘Citizens of Europe in the New Millenium’. • At present, our school participates in projects of different levels: • school, • district, • republic, • international, • online.

Comenius partnership project “EURidentity, my background” • 2006 -2007 started –Socrates/Grundtvig 2 “EDUCATION FOR THE HEALTH OF PEOPLE “; • 2007-2009 Grundtvig partnership project ‘GAME” • 2010-2011 – eTwinning international projects: • GAME • Under the open Sky –Romantic Astronomy • Joy in Life – more than lots of money in your pocket! • 2013-2015 Training for LIFE:Leadership Initiative For Europe

  15. 2006-2007 project activitiesA special excursion to Druskininkai • Project participants visited the Educational Centre in Druskininkai ”(it’s 230 km from Utena) and had the lecture on pshycological theme “Crises of children”. • Participants visited the sanatorium of mineral waters and SPA center. • Participants enjoyed 18 different baths in aqua-park.

  16. 2007-2008 project activities Lecture : “Healthy attitude to life” • The target group was formed from 41 adult participants. • Lecture “Healthy attitude to life” was given by Vladas Vitkauskas, the famous Lithuanian mountaineer.

  17. 2007-2008 project activitiesLecture: “Healthy food” Themes of the lectures: • “Genetically modified food” • “Ecological food” • “Water as an important medicament for the health of people”.

  18. 2008-2009 project activities Training sessions 2 times per week at 18.00 -19.00
