The UV Bio-Wall • The UV Bio-Wall are individual UV Arrays which work together in providing a “barrier wall” of Germicidal UV • Energy which will destroy virtually any biological contaminant which would pass through it. • Each Bio-Wall has 5 High Intensity 19mm. Quartz Lamps, which are mounted to Parabolic Reflectors that • reflect a full 360° of Germicidal Radiation. 2 900 microwatts per/cm² at 36” from a 60” UV Bio-Wall sanuvox technologies inc.

  3. The Two Inch UV Rule For those who are not familiar with this term, here is a quick summary. According to the Lamp Manufacturers, efficiencies DROP very quickly the further from the UV Lamp surface you move. At just 2” from the surface of the glass, the UV efficiency has already dropped 80% and the decline is not exponential. This is true for all types of UV Lamps, from cold cathode to hot cathode, soft glass to quartz glass. The Two Inch Rule is extremely important, it is the principal that governs UV Air Purification.The Two Inch Rule is ONLY applicable for air purification (treating moving air). sanuvox technologies inc.

Sanuvox In-Duct Purifiers • Sanuvox In-Duct UV Air Purifiers (R1500X, R3500X and C2000X) • are extremely efficient . • The In-Duct Purifiers are relatively small in size (the C2000X, • Sanuvox’s largest Commercial In-Duct UV Air Purifier measures 20” x 9”). • Sanuvox In-Duct UV Purifiers do not purify the entire volume of air in the • duct at one time. The air passing thru the Aluminum reflector Tube will • be treated, the purifier relies on the re-circulation to bring the overall level • of contaminants down. • The reason why Sanuvox In-Duct Purifiers are so effective in destroying • airborne contaminants is because the purifiers can: • a) Slow and Spin the air close to the UV lamp increasing the Dwell time in • order for the contaminant to receive a higher dosage of Germicidal UV (Turbulator). • b) Intensify the UV Energy thru the use of Reflection. The more powerful the UV Energy, the higher the UV • dosage delivered to the contaminant (Aluminum Reflector Tube). • C) Positioning the Purifier Parallel to the air stream increasing the Dwell Time. In contrast, if the purifier was • positioned perpendicular to the air, the contaminant would “zip” right by the lamp not spending very much time • in contact with the UV Energy.   5. Size DOES Matter How does the UV Bio-Wall treat ALL the air in the duct at one time? Because the UV Bio-Wall is designed to treat all the air in the duct, Sanuvox can not slow ALL the air down as it travels over the lamp. To compensate for NOT slowing the air down, the Bio-Wall MUST deliver an extremely high amount of UV over a much greater distance.   6. The UV Bio-Wall High Intensity 19mm. Quartz UV Lamps / Parabolic Reflectors Each Bio-Wall has 5 High Intensity 19mm.   7. The UV Bio-Wall High Intensity 19mm. Quartz UV Lamps / Parabolic Reflectors Sanuvox Lamps are Quartz glass not Soft glass. Quartz glass produces higher levels of UV Intensity and have a longer operating life than Soft Glass. The Lamps are special Hi-Intensity Quartz Lamps, which produce higher UV intensity than typical Quartz Lamps. Sanuvox Lamps are 19 mm in diameter, not 15 mm like other UV manufacturers. The Getter • The Getter is incorporated into the Lamp. • More environmentally friendly. Uses less than ½ the amount of mercury used in other Lamps. • Designed to absorb pollutants inside the Lamp which are created as the Lamp burns. • Better maintains UV intensity and Lamp Life Anode Designed to easily ignite the mercury vapor for less strain on the filaments as the Lamp starts. sanuvox technologies inc.

Two Factors in achieving a high bacteria kill are : • The INTENSITY of the UV source and • The greater the INTENSITY the greater the kill. • The length of TIME the bacteria is exposed to the UV light • The more TIME the bacteria is exposed to the UV light, the higher the UV dosage it receives, • the greater the kill. sanuvox technologies inc.

  9. Intensity The Bio-Wall increases its intensity through the use of Reflection. The same way a flashlight or car's headlight uses a reflector to intensify and direct light. Dwell Time • How does the Bio-Wall increase the TIME the contaminants spend in contact with the UV Lamp? • The longer the UV Lamp, the more time the contaminants spend in contact with the UV Energy. • This compensates for the fact that Sanuvox is not slowing the air down as it passes over the lamp. • b) To increase the dwell time (the time the contaminant is in contact with the UV Energy), the purifier is mounted parallel to the air-stream not perpendicular, maximizing the time the contaminant is in contact with the UV lamp. That's what the Bio-Wall is designed to do. Increase the TIME the contaminant is in contact with the Lamp so it can be irradiated by the UV Energy. The more time in front of the lamp, the higher the UV dosage the contaminant receives, the higher the kill. sanuvox technologies inc.

  13. Typical Installation Bio-Hazard Installation Example: For a 94% kill in a 36” x 36” duct, with the air moving @ 700 FPM. The % Kill is based on Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The UV Bio-Wall is 60 inches long. Generic Bio-Hazard Installation on a 36” x 36” Duct @ 700CFM For a Biohazard installation, each Bio-Wall should be installed 9 inches from the duct walls. Each Bio-Wall will be 18” center to center from an adjacent Bio-Wall. Biological contaminants vary in UV dosage needed to destroy them. Calculations are based on contaminant's individual UV dosage required, air velocity, duct size, intensity and length of Bio-Wall. sanuvox technologies inc.
