  5. Are People Moral? • Are there some types of people who are not moral?

  6. Morality & Idealism • Morality is an idealistic part of our identity

  7. Socialization • Do we live in society? • Would a society succeed if people were not moral? • What would happen?

  8. Socialization • What are some societies that didn’t respect people? • What are some societies that didn’t respect life? • Did they work? • Did they respect life?

  9. The Human Good • All children believe in the human good • What does this mean? • Is it crucial to respect life?

  10. Wasting Life • What would society be like if people thought it was ok to waste life? • What about people who destroy the environment or entire species? • Are there people who waste life?

  11. Wasting Life • Destroying any life for no reason is bad • To become a good member of society, you must understand this, by knowing that all life deserves respect and shouldn’t be wasted

  12. Full Socialization • to become fully socialized we must respect life • humans are social animals and need to be socialized

  13. Questions: 1 • Do humans strive for excellence? • How and why? • Is it idealistic? • Is idealism part of who we are?

  15. Is respect for life what is best in us? • Respect for life brings out what is meaningful in us • It is thoughtful • It is nondestructive

  16. Being true to ourselves We must: • Respect life • Not waste life • Have socialization • Most importantly, have our ideals

  17. Our Ideals Make us accomplish all things by doing what is best in each of us
