How do we, as PreK-12 educators use research? • to better inform decisions regarding approaches to curriculum, instruction, professional development • to support choices we make • For our teachers, parents, and community • Instill confidence in the choice made • to learn about proven instructional strategies

  3. What is important to us when we examine the research • Addresses the cause and effect • Applicable to our setting • Cautious of quantitative analyses that permit inferences from samples to populations.

  4. What sources do we typically turn to and why? • ERIC • ERS • WWC • AAAS - Project 2061 • National Mathematics Advisory Panel • National Organizations, NCTM, NSTA, etc…

  5. Provides for the ability to examine multiple sources focused upon one topic. Enables a weeding out of research that is self-reported n is relatively small, but in the publisher’s brochures it detail may not be included Provides ideas for implementation of strategies, approaches that have been proven successful (Practice Guides) How are the Clearinghouse Resources Most Useful To Those in the Field?
