  5. Thesis Statement Thesis statement states the purpose and topic of the speech. Examples I’d like to persuade you to join me in supporting off campus lunches. I will inform you of why reading is beneficial.

  6. Preview Statement • Names the 3 main topics of the speech • Eating lunch off campus can provide students a nutritious lunch, some social time, and a break from school day. • Reading for pleasure enables us to expand our vocabulary, broaden our minds, and be entertained.

Tie it back in to your attention getter. Answer the question you posed, use another appropriate quote; refer back to your reference, startling statement or story in some way. The point is to go “full circle”. • Never end your speech with “ In conclusion” “ That’s it”, “ That’s my speech”, or any related statements. • Never walk away without concluding your speech.
