  9. Engineering Materials non-metals KEY CONCEPTS RELATED TO MP Block Diagram of MP metals properties manufacturing applications limitations advantages

  10. Welding is the technique to join two similar/dissimilar metals/non metals by application of heat , pressure may be applied, with or without the use of fillers. Welding

  11. casting Casting is a manufacturing process in which material is heated up to the desired temperature & converted into liquid form , this liquid metal is pour into mould cavity where it is solidified. After solidification product is taken out of mould cavity, clean,& trimmed to get final shape

  12. forging Forging is a process of shaping of heated metal by the application of pressure manually or by the means of power hammers.

  13. rolling Rolling is a process of reducing the cross-sectional area by passing the metal between set of metal rolls.

  14. lathe The machines commonly used to perform material removal operations are known as machine tools. The principle of a machine tool is to generate required surface by providing requisite motion between the cutting tool and the workpiece. The most commonly used machine tool applications are turning, milling, shaping, drilling, grinding etc.

  15. Drilling Drilling is a machining process of making holes on the surface of any component by using a multi point cutting tool known as drill.

  16. shaper

  17. planer Planer is a machine tool used to generate flat surface by using single point cutting tool.

  18. grinding

  19. Powder metallurgy
