  1. California Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board Analysis of VOC to NOx Ratios in the South Coast Air Basin Eileen McCauley Research Division

  2. Methodology • TNMOC from PAMS used for VOC concentration • 3 hour canister samples • C2 - C10 hydrocarbons • NOx concentrations are averages of 3 one hour average

  4. Banning

  5. Burbank

  6. Hawthorne

  7. LA North Main

  8. Upland

  9. Azusa Average VOC/NOx

  10. Banning Average VOC/NOx

  11. Burbank Average VOC/NOx

  12. Hawthorne Average VOC/NOx

  13. LA North Main Average VOC/NOx

  14. Upland Average VOC/NOx

  15. Percent Weekend Increase

  16. THC vs PAMS Both the 8202 and Beckman THC instruments observed approx. 10 - 20% weekend decrease. Is there a change in VOC inventory on the weekend?

  17. Recommendations: • Calculate VOC/NOx ratios with carbonyls data and/or correction to total • 18 months of hourly total VOC measurements at several sites in SOCAB • Investigate possible differences in weekday / weekend data of THC and PAMS
