  26. Your assignment: Create a parody of a famous painting!

  27. Step ONE • Find a picture of your original famous painting. • Read a little about the artist’s technique in painting. • If you want to see examples of art parody, you can google either art parody or art spoof.

  28. Step TWO • Make associations, to find ideas that interest you, like: • Pop culture • Your interests • Your pets • Your family • Your town

  29. You have options to consider: Will you just change the “character” in the painting? Will you just change the background?

  30. Step THREE • Show a picture of the original painting you choose to Mrs. Yuzik * You can sign out a library book, or if you can print in colour at home, you can bring a picture TOMORROW from home. • Make a sketch first • Paint until complete

  31. Artists to Parody: • Grant Wood – American Gothic • Leonardo da Vinci – the Mona Lisa • Edvard Munch – the Scream • Van Gogh – Bedroom, Café • Or other famous paintings by these artists • Or other famous paintings by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, or others

  32. Painting must be famous in a sense that it is recognizable to people who know a little something about art.
