Commercial Lodging Pilot Discussion Commercial Lodging Business Case Partnering with GSA for a commercial lodging pilot in 2015 • Designed for travelers on TDY • Strategically source commercial lodging requirements: • Requirements reflect “standards of care”: interior access rooms, dead bolt/safety chains, in room safe or safety deposit box, FEMA & ADA compliant, smoke free rooms, fire evacuation plan, close proximity to government facilities • Protection for traveler: no cancellation fee, no early departure charge, last room availability, no minimum stay, accept GTCC • Quality: at least two star/diamond rated, renovated in last five years • Amenities either required or considered in sourcing selection: free cable/satellite, internet/Wi-Fi access, parking, breakfast, airport shuttle • Negotiated rates below per diem • Customer feedback and customer satisfaction • Listed in GDS under special rate code for convenient online booking through Defense Travel System (DTS) • Policy for pilot encourages usage by limiting reimbursement to the highest preferred rate unless exception approved • Potential pilot sites include; Joint Base Charleston, MacDill AFB, Wright Patterson AFB, 29 Palms, CA, and SEATAC AirPort area, WA 2
