  3. Our Schedule • Students may come in at 8:00 • Morning news begins at 8:15 • Tardy Bell rings at 8:30 • Specials: at 9:05 Daily, see schedule • Lunch is 12:45-1:15 • School ends at 3:00

  4. Volunteering We Love Volunteers. Please sign up in our classroom tonight! -Let us know how you would like to help -Room Parent- Mrs. King -Always sign in at the office

  5. Dining Room • Please do not bring outside food (fast food) into the cafeteria • Please prepay for your child’s lunch • Helpful Hints for Sending Lunches: -Small snips in the top of a prepackaged bag (chips, granola bars, etc.) - Containers that the child can open

  6. Snack • Snack calendar sent home monthly • Items must be store bought • Please let Miss Grisham know in advance if you would like to send in special snack for a birthday (cannot be homemade).

  7. Field Trips • Must have clearance from Wake County to chaperone field trip Tentative trips (official dates will be sent out shortly): • Pumpkin Farm in October • Kenney’s Gym in February • Laurel Hills Pond in late May/early June

  8. Conferences • Report cards: end of 2nd quarter and 4th quarter • Conference with teacher: end of 1st quarter • Student led conference: end of 3rd quarter • Let Miss Grisham know if you would like to schedule a conference other than these times.

  9. Behavior • Daily Behavior: • Positive Behavior System If students are “caught” using LEAD behaviors in the classroom, they will be rewarded with a “stick” in their pocket; we call those students bucket fillers. Students who are not using LEAD behaviors are bucket dippers, but can turn their behaviors around to be bucket fillers.

  10. Behavior • Behavior referral form for major instances • Tickets, train cars and class rewards

  11. Arrival, Dismissal, Absences • Come in with your child if tardy • Sign out child in office. This must be done by 2:30 in the afternoon. • If absent, please send a note or call the school • Please send a note if your child will be going home a different way. They may not ride home on a bus that is not their own bus.

  12. Working with your Child at Home • Sound out words • Count objects, sort, and make patterns • Tell how things are alike and different • Read together daily (Ask questions about the facts as well as what your child might be thinking about as the reading is done.) • Practice letters, sounds, and sight words

  13. Medicine • We cannot give out medicine. If your child needs medicine, it must go through the office.

  14. Important Information • Please have a change of clothes labeled with your child’s name for accidents at school • Please label jackets, lunchboxes and backpacks • Please wear tennis shoes on days we have PE

  15. Important Information • Friday folders should be seen and returned the following Monday • Please initial daily communication folders and return daily (Put things you wish to communicate and/or requested items that need to be sent in, in the daily communication folder.)
