  3. Special Classes • Physical Education (Gym) • Art • Music • 21st Century • Each class 40 minutes, once a week

  4. Hours 8:40a.m.-3:30p.m. • First bell rings at 8:35a.m. (arrive time) • Lunch 12:30-1:10p.m. • Keep school calendar handy! • Early dismissals • Half days • Breaks

  5. Arrival Procedures • Car drop off in loop, parents can not exit car while in the loop. • Kindergarten students enter the building through door # 9. • Students are met with a safety and line up in hallway outside of their classroom • Parents MUST only enter through the main office doors, sign in and get a badge from office staff.

  6. Dismissal Procedures • Bussers will line up in the hallway by bus route # • Girls dismissed from Mrs. Kilbride’s outside door • Boys dismissed from Mrs. Makowski’s outside door • Latchkey students are walked to the gym • Parent must legally park vehicle and walk to flagpole area to pick up students.

  7. Day to Day • Rest time at the beginning of the year, will be discontinued based on student needs (crib sheet needed for mat) • Recess every day! Dress for the weather (ie. Snow gear) 10 degrees or higher we are outside • Snack time – Students bring their own individual snacks daily, water bottles only for drinks • Allergies – no peanut or cinnamon products

  8. Breakfast and Lunch • Encouraged to complete a lunch application • Menus sent home monthly • Hot lunch/breakfast must be ordered at least one day in advance • Breakfast delivered to classrooms daily • Kindergarteners eat in the lunchroom first and then go out for recess • 6th grade helpers available

  9. Curriculum • Common Core State Standards • EveryDay Math Program • Battle Creek Science • Balanced Literacy Program • 9 iPads in every K-2 classroom, integrated throughout subject areas • Individualized learning (MTSS support)

  10. Be involved… • Center parents are always needed • Join our PTO • Volunteer for activities, projects • Attend family fun nights • READ and TALK to your child each and every day!

  11. Communication • Weekly newsletters emailed every Friday • Teacher websites • Paper copies ONLY upon request • Email teacher or principal with any questions, concerns • Meetings available by appointment • Team effort to help your child succeed!
