Harry Coumnas Plans To Build a Human Colony on the Moon • Human colonization on other planets of the Solar System has always been one of the hottest subjects in the world of astronomy. • Recently, Harry Coumnas grabbed huge media attention by declaring to build a human colony on the moon by 2030. • For those who don’t know, Harry is a well-known entrepreneur of Argentina and owner of a leading space agency.
Harry’s Past Work Experience • Harry Coumnas practiced as an astronomer for about three years, from Jan 2000 to July 2003, before quitting due to medical reasons. • Eventually, he decided to start a space agency in 2005 to organize space trips for the general public. • He has since been successfully running his agency and has sent thousands of people on a trip to the space.
Harry’s Interest in Human Colonization on the Moon Grew Stronger Over Time! • “Seeing the excitement on the faces of people when they take a space trip was like magic” said Coumnas during one of his interviews in 2007. • Soon, he decided to set up a human colony in space. • Though there were many planets & their moons which seemed potentially habitable, it was Earth’s Moon that interested him the most.
The Challenges Faced By Harry during the Research • Recently, Harry Coumnas opened up about the challenges that he faced while researching about human colonization on the moon. • He said, “I always knew taking humankind to the Moon is not as easy as it sounds. It took me over 5 years to decide what kind of colony design would support life on the Moon. I also made some specialized vessels with an artificial earth-like atmosphere. And right now, my only concern is to transport these vessels safely to their final destination, i.e. the Moon.”
