OBJECTIVES OF ROUNDTABLE • To review our achievements in the 9 areas as identified in the Putrajaya Declaration (PD); • To identify the gaps and challenges in the implementation of the Putrajaya Declaration commitments (PD+5) • To prioritize the critical areas to be addressed by 2015 (PD +10).

EXPECTED ROUNDTABLE OUTCOMES • CLEARER UNDERSTANDING OF ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH PD+5 • RESULTS OF INPUT FROM EXPERT GROUPS • DRAFT DOCUMENT ON PD+5 REVIEW • ----------------------------------------------------------- • FINAL DOCUMENT BY NIEW-NCWO TO BE GIVEN TO MINISTER OF KPWKM • DOCUMENT TO BE SENT TO ALL NAM MEMBERS (118 COUNTRIES) FOR FOLLOW UP ACTION

  4. OBJECTIVES OF PLENARY SESSION 1 • TO IDENTIFY SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES IN THE NINE AREAS • TO PROVIDE BACKGROUND INFO FOR THE PARTICPANTS THAT WILL ASSIST IN THEIR DELIBERATION DURING THE LABS.

  5. PARALLEL SESSIONS PARALLEL SESSIONS: 4 TOPICS • LAB 1: POVERTY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT • LAB 2: EDUCATION, MEDIA AND ICT • LAB 3: GENDER MAINSTREAMING, VAW, POWER AND DECISION-MAKING • LAB 4: HEALTH, AND DISASTER SITUATIONS

  6. OBJECTIVES OF LAB SESSIONS • TO FOCUS ON EACH ASSIGNED AREA UNDER REVIEW • TO SHARE INFORMATION ON SUBSTANTIVE AREAS OF ACTION • TO IDENTIFY REQUIRED ACTIONS IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS INCLUDING NEW EMERGING ISSUES

FOCUSED QUESTIONS • For each section, please focus on these questions • What are some policies/programs implemented in the last five years that you would like to highlight ? • What are the actions that should be prioritized in the next 5 years? • Is there any new emerging issue within this section that Malaysia should pay attention to (please provide rationale)?

PLAN OF ACTION for LABS INTRUCTIONS TO CAHAIR/FACILITATOR/ RAPPORTEUR • All labs will be running concurrently. • Each lab will focus on between 1-3 categories • Spend approx One (1) hour per category by focusing on each question. This is important because input from the question will go into the final document. • Use your discretion to make the time to break up for coffee. • Output- Flipcart/ Pwr Pt preparation for presentation in Plenary 2

  9. PLENARY SESSION 2- JULY 21 • Objectives • To share Lab proceedings with all participants • To get additional feedback from participants • Activity (10 am-12:30) • Lab representative will make a 15-20 min presentation • Feedback session (45 mins)
