  3. Project Aims • To lay the scientific and technical foundations for a European Virtual Observatory • To join the capabilities of new Grid technologies to astronomical research • To form a collaborative alliance with international efforts on Virtual Observatories

Work Program Interoperability • Development and prototyping of new standards for data content, data description and data discovery Technology • Study and prototyping of Grid technologies that allow distributed computation, manipulation and visualization of data Science • Define key requirements for large, complex multi-wavelength astronomy projects Demonstrations

International Virtual Observatory Alliance Mission To facilitate the international coordination and collaboration necessary for the development and deployment of the tools, systems and organizational structures necessary to enable the international utilization of astronomical archives as an integrated and interoperating virtual observatory
