  2. SSS Methodology • Done in conjunction with CCSSE in Spring 2011 • Each survey had 5 parts • Demographics • Importance • Campus Climate • Services • General Satisfaction • Sample size =284 (2010 sample size = 652).

  6. Demographics (continued) • 57% lived in households of less than $50,000/year • 73% live with parents • 1 out of every 10 is a single parent • 88%+ live with 3 or more people

  7. Demographics (continued) • 75% first generation • 63% want an AA/AS or transfer • 64% attend in the morning • 48% enroll in 12+ units • Work: 57% <20 hours, 26%=21-34, 10% fulltime

Benchmark 1-Active and Collaborative Learning. • Students learn more when they are … • …actively involved in their education and apply what they are learning in different settings • collaborate with others to solve problems or master challenging content that prepare them to deal with real-life situations and problems. • Measured by 7 survey items

  19. Benchmark 2-Student Effort • These 8 survey items measure: • How students’ own behaviors contribute significantly to their learning • Likelihood that they will successfully attain their educational goals

  20. Benchmark 3- Academic Challenge • These 10 survey items address • the nature and amount of assigned academic work • the complexity of cognitive tasks presented to students • the rigor of examinations used to evaluate student performance

  21. Benchmark 4- Student-Faculty Interaction • The more contact students have with their teachers, the more likely they are to learn effectively and to persist toward achievement of their educational goals. • Measured by 6 survey items.

  22. Benchmark 5- Support for Learners • Students perform better and are more satisfied at colleges that provide important support services • cultivate positive relationships among groups on campus • demonstrate commitment to their success • 7 items measure this construct
