  5. Policy- Memo 764/Active Schools Circular 36/2002 • Prep to Year 3: 20-30 minutes physical education per day • Years 4-6: 180 minutes per week, with at least 50 percent allocated to physical education • Years 7-10: minimum 100 minutes each for physical education and sport

  6. PASE program • Professional Development for teachers to improve knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver quality SPE programs in schools. • Partnership with ACHPER • 20,000 teachers

  7. Teaching and Learning Resources • Ensure they reflect current knowledge and understandings about PA • Consult with appropriate agencies

  8. Active Schools Package • Reaffirmation of compulsory SPE • Walk a ‘K’ a day (Walk more K’s a Day) • School sporting facilities (joint use agreements with LGA’s – wider community use) • Adopt-a-School – sports partnership program

  9. PSE Accountability Framework • Accountability measures for the amount and quality of SPE in schools • Responsibility to the school community

  10. Projects and Partnerships • School Club Links/Junior Sport: Dept Vic Communities (SRV) / VicSport – SSA - SDO’s – Sporting Clubs – RSA • Centre for Multi-cultural Youth • Walk more K’s a day: DoI, Vic Walking Strategy, LGA’s • Walking School Bus: VicHealth • TravelSMART:DoI
