The day will showcase all of the amazing work done by youth across the Commonwealth with 5 service projects going on simultaneously in Boston, Brockton, Cambridge, Lynn, and Worcester. These projects were selected through a competitive RFP process, with proposals that were co-written by youth and reviewed by our Youth Board to ensure that the projects address the needs of young people in their individual communities and, above all, are fun! Choose ONE: • Brockton Youth Council (BYC) Mural Project; • (TEEN CENTER ONLY) • *Looking for Mentees, ages 9-13 years old and Mentors, ages 16 and above • Celebrate youth development efforts by helping the BYC paint the logo of a local organization who has dedicated their work to providing the Five Promises to young people in the community. Young people will be paired with volunteers to paint logo's on 18x18inch canvases to be donated to the organization. Research has shown that when young people have access to at least four of the five promises; Caring Adults, a Healthy Start, Effective Education, Safe Places, and Opportunities to give back to their community, they are more likely to be successful and attend college! • *Artwork provided by Artists for Humanity • Collect and organize non-perishable food items for Greater Boston Food Bank • Collect and sort school supplies for Brockton’s School on Wheels • Make and send get-well cards for Armed Forces troops • Make and send Boys & Girls Club academic enrichment sheets and friendship bracelets to Brockton youth in local hospitals • Clean the surrounding neighborhoods • Paint the walls of the Warren Avenue Club • Clean inside and the perimeter of the Warren Avenue Club and Brockton Teen Center
