Copy them, and identify what they are (simile, metaphor, etc.) • As you read, find at least two examples of onomatopoeia in Chapter 3 or 4. Copy them down, and identify what sound they represent. • Where does Uma go when she excuses herself from the card game? Why does she go there? Why does she go alone? What is the end result? • Since she no longer attends school, how does Uma spend her time each day? • How has Arun’s birth impacted MamaPapa’s lifestyle and status? • For Papa, eating meat is symbolic of what? What is Arun’s response to meat & broth? • What forbidden treat does Uma share with Arun?
